Javier O. Martinez is a proud immigrant from Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He came to the United States at a young age and resided in the border town of Laredo, Texas. In his early years, Javier was a multi sport award-winning athlete in both baseball and football. Because of his success on the field, Javier was awarded a full academic scholarship after graduating high school to play baseball at Laredo Community College.
After Laredo Community College, Javier transferred to the University of Texas where he excelled academically. He was a member of the Dean’s List every semester from 2006-2009. In addition to focusing on academics, he also dedicated his time to serving the community. In 2008, his student organization, Texas Iron Spikes, elected him as Community Service Director. Because of it, the Texas Iron Spikes performed hundreds of community service hours across the Austin, Texas area.
Javier enrolled at South Texas College of Law in 2010 where he continued to succeed academically. He was a member of the Dean’s List and received multiple scholarships for academic merit. Javier earned the highest grade in his Criminal Trial Advocacy as well as Texas Trial and Appellate Procedure classes. Javier’s professor in the Criminal Trial Advocacy Class, the legendary Texas trial Judge Larry Gist, once remarked that Javier was the only student in his class to ever earn an A+ grade.
While at South Texas College of Law, Javier began working at the nationally recognized law firm of Bires & Schaffer. After graduation, Javier was hired as an associate attorney. As an associate, he successfully defended numerous clients charged with different types of criminal cases in state and federal court. During his six-year tenure at Bires & Schaffer, he successfully tried more cases to a jury than any other lawyer at the firm during that time period.
After being mentored by some of the best lawyers in the country, Javier founded The Law Office of Javier O. Martinez in 2017. Javier has vast experience in both state and federal court. He has taken on the most difficult cases and won. When the odds are against you, he will aggressively defend you when no one else will.
